Finally for this week ......

... Steve asked me if I would make him a pillow to take camping ....nice and easy :-)

Camp blanket ninja !!

Steffi is hoping to go on Brownie camp and has got loads of badges from Rainbows so I foolishly said I would make her a camp blanket ..... she loves it and it has plenty of space for more badges and for her to grow. The pattern even came with a "blanket buddy" that she helped to make and sewed the buttons on herself ... the buddy has now been christened a "blanket ninja " !!! ... unfortunately Markus now wants one for when he is a Beaver so watch this space .....

Crochet ....

I thought it would be good to learn to crochet so went on a Sat morning course at the library... here are the little flowers that I made, that have now become rugs for Barbies house !!!

More crochet ....

Crochet just seems sooooo easy after knitting ... so have been busy making some Christmas present

Meercat madness

Foolishly I bought myself a knitted meercat book and now the kids are addicted .....

Holiday knitting project

I thought I should take something to knit on holiday with me so took some red white and blue wool to make a tea cosy for the caravan. However I then needed some pompoms for the top ... so the pompom factory workers set to work and we had a house full of pompons and some very happy children. Unfortunately I then had to "pay" them so ended up knitting red, white and blue purses for them as well !!!

Steffi's 7th birthday

Steffi's 7th birthday and what did she want for a cake ????? ....of course a lions den !!!

Lifeguards in training

This week I have been busy doing some applique on some t-shirts for the kids ... as we are off on holiday with Jorg and Lilli and their kids, that meant that I needed to do 5 t-shirts. Hopefully the kids will like them and I will get a pic of them all at the beach wearing them :-)

Another purse

Another purse made in the hoop on my machine but this time I thought I would try making a purse with some Arsenal fabric that I had left, I think it turned out ok, good job it only chopped the L off on the back of the purse though :-)

Cricket birthday cake

Today was Markus' birthday party .... and he wanted a cricket party so needed a cake to go with it ...he was suitably impressed with this ... especially because under the grass there was mud (otherwise known as chocolate cake !!!)

"In the hoop" purse

Since I got my embroidery sewing machine I haven't really tried anything too exciting, apart from doing standard names and pictures. I did recently try some applique but have now tried to make something "in the hoop", this means it was all done in the embroidery hoop by adding layers of material at different times.

Here is the finished result, a little coin purse which I enjoyed doing so will no doubt try a couple more to really get the hang of it before trying some different patterns .... so watch out you might all get coin purses for Christmas

... probably better than a knitted dishcloth !

Bathroom blind

Here are some pics of the new roman blind in the bathroom. It is the first time that I have used the chain winding system for raising the blind and am quite impressed with it :-)

Simone's curtains

At last I have remembered to put some photos of Simone's massive curtains on the website ... they were huge ... for one widow the curtains were 3.5m wide and 2.5m long and for the smaller window they were 2.5m wide !!!

Owls and cusions

Here are some little owls that I made ... they were in my new magazine and I thought they would make nice little presents and also could be used to keep Steffi's door open :-)

Tent bag

You can tell that I am bored and have not got much to do .... this week I made some tent bags for the HSA (Heastherside's PTA) as they kindly lent us their gazebos for the Tavistock summer fair. The fair went really well and we raised £2000 ...but we did get a little wet !

well my room got packed away as Mum and Dad came to visit so haven't done much recently ... but it is now the end of term so have been busy making things with the kids for their teachers.
The kids have finally got to make something from their Roald Dahl cook book and decided to make "Stickjaw for talkative teachers!!" ... meringues with toffee inside

I have also made a couple of aprons, one for Miss Arnold

and one for Mrs Eagle as she is retiring this year ... using an old sweatshirt for the logo :-)

My first quilt

At last here are some pics of the quilt that I have been making for Steffi, she designed the "crossword" herself and chose the combination of colours for each letter ... we both had fun but now of course Markus wants one too ..... good job I am still only working part time .....

Knitted dishcloths !

You can tell that I have too much time on my hands at the moment as I have been knitting some dishcloths ... but actually they seem to work very well ...I prefer the one with the british isles on it :-)
